When I bought this monopod in January 2020, TikTok wasn\u2019t even part of my plans.<\/p>\n
At the time, I was mainly interested in DSLR photography. I wanted something that would give me extra stability without carrying a full tripod everywhere. After watching behind-the-scenes footage from BBC Leeds and seeing broadcast crews working at BBC headquarters in London using professional camera support equipment, I became fascinated by what many people call \u201cMojo\u201d (Mobile Journalism) kit.<\/p>\n
I liked the idea of having something lightweight, portable and quick to set up, while still providing a more professional shooting experience than simply holding a camera in my hands.<\/p>\n
That search eventually led me to this monopod.<\/p>\n
Originally, it was purchased purely for still photography. Whether I was taking landscape photographs, event images, or experimenting with different camera settings, it quickly became a regular part of my camera bag. The extra stability made shooting more comfortable and helped improve the consistency of my photos.<\/p>\n
Over time, however, the way I used it changed.<\/p>\n
As social media platforms evolved and video became a bigger part of content creation, the monopod found a second life. Rather than just supporting a DSLR for photography, it became a useful tool for recording video content as well.<\/p>\n
One area where it has proved particularly useful is recording vinyl records for social media. When filming records spinning on the turntable, having a stable support system makes a huge difference. Instead of trying to balance a camera or phone by hand, I can position everything exactly where I want it and concentrate on capturing the shot.<\/p>\n
It has also been used when creating concert-related content. A recent example was my Metallica video featuring Until It Sleeps, which I shared on TikTok.<\/p>\n

Having a stable monopod makes filming much easier, especially during longer recordings where holding a camera or smartphone for extended periods can become uncomfortable. The extra support helps reduce unwanted movement while still allowing enough flexibility to reposition quickly when needed.<\/p>\n
Five years later, what impresses me most is not any single feature. It is simply how reliable it has been.<\/p>\n
The locking sections still work properly, the fold-out feet still provide useful support, and the overall build quality has stood up remarkably well. It has travelled to different locations, supported multiple cameras and smartphones, been used for photography, vinyl videos, social media content and general content creation, yet it continues to do exactly what it was bought for.<\/p>\n
Looking back, it started life as a photography accessory inspired by seeing professional broadcast crews using lightweight camera support systems. Today, it remains an important part of how I create content, whether that is taking DSLR photographs, recording videos of my vinyl collection, or producing clips for TikTok.<\/p>\n
Not bad for a purchase made over five years ago.<\/p>\n
Some camera gear gets replaced. Some camera gear becomes part of your workflow.<\/p>\n
This monopod definitely falls into the second category.<\/p>\n
