September 2025 – A Month of Music, Awards

September brought a bit of everything — indie anthems, nostalgic pop battles, corporate awards, and even a career fair. A proper mixed bag, and a reminder that no two weeks at the arena ever look the same.

September 18th – Tom Grennan

Tom Grennan pulled in a lively crowd. Lots of energy, lots of singing, and a lot of empty beer cups to match. The atmosphere was buzzing, and by the time we went in for the night shift, the floor was already sticky from the first encore. Nothing out of the ordinary — just a proper gig clean.

September 23rd – Deacon Blue

A totally different vibe compared to Grennan. A more mature crowd, slower pace, and the kind of night where you find wine bottles instead of WKDs under the seats. The music might have been gentler, but the mess was still there waiting for us once the lights went up.

September 24th – Great British Pub of the Year Awards (Private Event)

A shift with no roaring crowds, no mosh pits, and no chants — but still a lot to clear away. Tables full of glasses, plates, and promotional banners. The kind of event that looks easy at first glance, but by the end you’ve shifted more chairs than you’d expect. Different to the usual arena jobs, but a reminder that this place isn’t just about music and sport — it’s a multi-purpose machine.

September 26th – Simply Red

This one was smooth but busy. A polished crowd, big voices, and the arena lit up red to match the name. The clean-up was all about pacing — steady, controlled, but with plenty of ground to cover.

September 27th & 28th – McFly vs Busted

Nostalgia at full tilt. Night one had fans screaming, dancing, and reliving their teenage years. The floor was chaos — glowsticks, signs, bottles, and enough glitter to make the hoovers cry.

Unfortunately, I was off sick for night two. Frustrating to miss out, but sometimes the body decides for you.

September 30th – Digital Careers Fair

The month ended with a corporate-style day event. Not glamorous, not messy, but still important. Flyers, brochures, takeaway coffee cups, and the usual trail of pens and lanyards left behind. A calm way to close out the month after all the noise.

Wrapping Up September

From indie singalongs to boyband nostalgia, and from private awards to career fairs — September covered a lot of ground. Missing one night stung a little, but that’s casual work: some nights you’re there, some nights you’re not.

October’s coming, and with it a whole new mix of shifts, crowds, and clean-ups.
