Good bye 2024 Hello 2025

Wow wow wow another year come and gone like the blink of an eye, it only feels like it was yesterday that 2024 was starting but as the final days and hours of 2024 come to an end i would like to give you a look into what i did in 2024. As always in these end of year round up blogs i like to give you an insight into my working life as a casual post event cleaner at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. This year was a busy one with public and privet events at the arena with some of the event’s, this year like marti pellow  i even took my mum and aunties to see him live and yes you heard that correctly it was a take your family to work day for me, misfits boxing, Judas Priest, sum 41, slipknot, Tenacious D, take that, Deep purple and some of the same events from last year like the bbc strictly come dancing, Disney on ice, euro strong man, Leeds tattoo expo and leeds becket university graduations, Alice Cooper and if i was to list every event I’ve worked on this year i would be sat here for ever listing them. Every year I have that one or two event’s that stands out the most to me and one  was take that because of what Garry Barlow said at the end of the show and that was “ thank you to everyone who is working tonight from our own crew to the staff of the arena cos if it wasn’t for them doing what they do we would not have a venue to perform in “ and yes 4 nights of back to back shows and confetti every single night was tough but we all pulled together from us cleaners, security and stage crew even helped us out oh and did i mention that i got cleaner of the month for that month and the other one was marti pellow cos i got to take my mum and aunts to work for that show and see them enjoying the night. The 2025 Callander looks like a fun one so far with what’s on the arena website and the night I’m looking forward to the most in 2025 is pantera but we will have to wait a whole year to see if my mind changes but at the minute that’s what I’m looking forward to On a non work related topic and the one that makes me the proudest brother is that my brother got a job working for the West Yorkshire Police, yes that’s correct my brother is going to be a West Yorkshire police officer by the time his training is finished. As always I don’t take working at the arena for granted but it gives me the opportunity to watch people on stage doing there thing and how everyone who works there comes together to make people’s nights a special experience to remember and yes it’s physically demanding when you have 4 shows back to back but there is nothing more like it than when some one comes to you and says “ thank you that was awesome ” makes it all worth it, And i would like to sign off this post by saying happy new year and See you next year at the arena for another cracking year of events.
