A Cleaner’s Perspective: Working at Leeds Arena in April 2024

A Month in the Life of a Cleaner at Leeds Arena

April 2024 was a month like no other at Leeds Arena. As a cleaner, I got to experience the thrilling bustle and unique atmosphere of various events. The month started with Cirque Du Soleil from April 4th to 7th. The spectacle they created was out of this world. As a cleaner, I had the privilege of witnessing the transformation of the arena into a magical world of acrobats, clowns, and jugglers. The challenge was maintaining the cleanliness of the venue amidst the crowd’s excitement and awe, but it was worth it. On the 9th, UB40 FT Ali filled the arena with reggae music. I found myself humming along to their catchy tunes as I worked. And although cleaning up after such a large concert was no easy task, the energy of the performance made it all worthwhile. The 13th was an adrenaline-charged day as Europe’s Strong Man competition was held. The sheer physical prowess on display was awe-inspiring, and the audience’s cheers echoed long after the event was over. Then, Take That’s first-ever tour in Leeds took place from the 17th to 20th. As a cleaner, I never thought I’d have a chance to see them live, but there I was, experiencing the band’s historic visit. The arena was sold out for four days straight, and the work was intense, but nobody complained. We knew we were part of something special. On the 26th, Lil Tjay performed. I admit, I had never heard of him before working at the arena, but his music left an impression. His youthful energy filled the venue, and the fans were some of the most enthusiastic I’d seen. Each event brought its unique challenges and rewards as a cleaner. But despite the long hours and hard work, the month of April was a memorable one. The Leeds Arena was more than just a workplace – it was a front-row seat to some of the best events in town.
